blog-header

To kick-off the new year, our church (Every Nation, Tallahassee) is publishing an online devotional blog for the next 40 days to provide a helpful guide for those looking for a plan to start the year.

Beginning Monday, January 12th, we’ll post a new blog every day at 7 a.m. highlighting a passage of scripture to read and questions to use when looking to apply it to your life. We’ve also posted a helpful prayer guide based upon The Lord’s Prayer.

If you’d like to sent the updates automatically, you can click here to receive the updates in your inbox every day. For the more techno-savvy out there, you can subscribe to our RSS feed by clicking here.

Be sure to also check out the prayer resources, confession sheets (coming soon) and additional resources.

Is your church doing something like this to start the new year? If you attend ENT, are you using the devotional guide?

Ok, it’s been talked about, rumored about, even Twittered about. Now, it’s on. Here are the deets:

  • January 5th through March 8th (8 full weeks)
  • We’re measuring percent of total weight lost, not actual pounds
  • $20 buy-in, prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. (In-kind service [car washing] can also count, and non-Tallahassee people can also get in by sending gift cards via the web). I’ll collect the money any time between now and March 2nd. I’ll trust your word if you say you’re in.
  • Use the same scale each week (unless you’re out of town right now). Make sure it’s an honest one!
  • Weigh yourself each Monday and email me the percentage lost by 12 p.m. (EST) that day. First email should come on January 12th.
  • UPDATED: Here’s how to do the math: Each week take total pounds lost [divided by] starting weight to get your overall percentage lost. For instance, if you start at 230 and lost 4 at the end of the first week, you’d have lost 1.74%
  • Send in a percentage to the 4nd decimal, i.e. 3.5665%. This could be close, you know…
  • I’ll post the results on this blog no later than 1 p.m. every Monday.

You have until 12 a.m. on 1/6 to go in, because you have to weigh yourself on 1/5.

Ok, I’m in, who’s coming with me? (Official response needed on this blog post, not Facebook or Twitter)

Apparently, some people aren’t happy with the OLD Republicans…

So is church planting a white man’s game, or is it just advertised that way?

Is God real?

If He is than we should be able to clearly testify to what He’s doing in our lives.

This past Sunday at our church in Tallahassee we took the day to share stories of what God’s done in the lives of a few members of our spiritual family. Do you know what’s he done in yours?

Can you list five things God’s done in your life? Five ways He’s challenged you, changed you, moved you, broken you, healed you, loved you?

Here’s mine:

  1. Brought me back to vocational ministry
  2. Brought a wonderful daughter into my life
  3. Brought me to the end of myself multiple times, only to find He was there waiting for me
  4. Miraculously sold our home so we could be debt-free and give more to His kingdom
  5. Broke, shaped, molded, challenged and transformed me to be a better husband

Can you name five, FIVE, ways God moved in your life in 2008?

A humiliating Christmas gift…

Yeah, so the parents got us Wii Fit and this was the result. Don’t ever accuse me of not being “real!”
