Today’s guest blog come from from mlm, author of the blog God Knows. God Cares. mlm “is a preacher’s wife who lives in Florida, where the weather’s hot and the living is good.”

Here’s her post:

A wise woman recently told me that this modern age has really affected the way we Christians view God. We’re so used to having everything at the click of a button: the Internet, email, cell phones, text messages… If we lack some sort of knowledge or information, we know where to go to get it—and get it fast!

But then there’s God. And the way He responds to us often upsets our style of fast-paced living. He’s slow. Like a hard drive with too much data, photos, or maybe a virus. We think, “What’s wrong with Him?” (As if it’s His fault.) Or, “What’s taking so long? I prayed like AN HOUR AGO!” We’re told (by the Bible and preachers and such) that He’s working on our behalf and it’s almost as if we can see the little hourglass icon on the screen of our life, telling us to wait a little bit longer because the system’s still working.

Wait on the Lord…be still…be patient…endure…

As much as it may confound us and throw us off our schedules, God is just not bound by time the way we are. And no amount of pressure on our part is going to speed Him up.

So when I pray to God and ask Him to reveal His plan for the next step of my life, I probably shouldn’t hold my breath. It’s just not something I can Google and be done with. Actually, I tried. I Google’d “God’s plan for the next step of my life” and guess what came up.

Your search – “god’s plan for the next step of my life” – did not match any documents.

Alas. God cannot be Google’d. We must discover His plan the old-fashioned way: through His Word, prayer, worship, and…waiting.
