Yes, it’s all over. Yes, we all visted the Cake Shop yesterday. But all is not lost. I was back at the gym today, rocking the treadmill and lifting those heavy metal things.

The Weightdown Throwdown began when I expressed a desire to be in a much different place physically by my 30th birthday. I’ve always been a bigger guy, but I want to make sure I’m healthy enough to play with not only my kids but my grandkids. Chris Tavalare then took it to another level by suggesting a wager to increase my motivation, which then steamrolled into 23 people throwing themselves into an eight-week competition.

Yesterday I stepped onto the scale at a weight I hadn’t been since my senior year in college, which was eight years ago. I feel healthier, I’ve changed my eating habits to the point where I don’t like certain foods very much, and don’t eat the amount of sweets I felt nearly unable to stop myself from eating before. I’ve had to buy new belts and some new clothes.

All that to say, it was the best 20 bucks I’ve ever lost. I’m looking forward to continuing the trend, dropping more lbs and, most importantly, staying healthy. Thanks to Chris for starting this whole thing, and congrats to Donny for taking home first place.
