Don’t stop Twittering in church. In fact, you need to Twitter more.
You see, Twitter helped someone come to our church yesterday.
Another Tallahassee Twitter-er happened to see how many people from our church were twittering about the church, and decided to check it out. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife during our second service today. Here’s what he has to say on the subject:

Now, Kevin may not have actually LIKED the church (I’m guessing he did), but he found about it through TWITTER. That’s right, the geeky, whatdoesthatthingreallydo social network.
See, I don’t want people to put down their phones during service. They’re not going to do that. I’m not going to do that. Instead, I’m going to encourage us to talk ABOUT the service. Use their passion for God’s purpose.
So far, so good.

Don’t worry… we did like ENT! Everyone was really nice, and we look forward to meeting even more!! And yes… I’m geeky. And even though I found out about ENT from Twitter… I kept my phone put away for MOST of the service. (Old habits are hard to break.)

I like your encouragement to NOT put down your phones in church…that is way outside of most people’s little boxes….love that kind of thinking…

I say, put down your phone and pick up your Macbook. All that buzzing can be a little annoying.
I kid, I kid…. Mostly.

We’ve already seen the benefit of having some in the congregation Twitter. Most don’t do it during church (which I wouldn’t mind, I do). But, they keep connecting with people in the local area via Twitter and inviting those folks when the time is right.
